In April 2018, while touring the country performing spoken word our founder, Gloria Umanah reached the realization that if everything she’s built dies the moment that she does, then she didn’t live for something bigger than herself. It was that thought that birthed within her a passion and desire to use creativity to build and advance a kingdom that would extend into eternity, which required laying down “me” in exchange for “we”. In a culture where everyone is in competition to magnify their names, Gloria instead decided to become an individual of the fine print and launched a collaborate collective called The Ex-Nihilo Collective; innovators in pursuit of the common good of others. “Ex-Nihilo” is Latin for, "Out of Nothing"; which is where innovation derives from. Innovation is the ability to convert creative ideas into desired outputs; it has the ability to transform into widespread benefit/usage for the good of others. 2020 brought a newfound shift and The Ex-Nihilo Collective shifted from the stage to the streets and is invested in transforming communities through the use of innovation and we want to inspire and foster environments for individuals to join us in our efforts. We know everyone doesn’t believe what we believe, but we emphasis building a table where everyone has a seat, because together we are stronger. Here’s to raising up and equipping unconventional innovators to pioneer global transformation through creative expression.
